R.E.M. Reunites for Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony
The original members of R.E.M. reunited for the first time in nearly three decades at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony in New York. They performed an acoustic version of their 1987 hit “Losing My Religion.”
Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry performed together publicly for the first time since 1995. Stipe highlighted their long-lasting friendship and the pride they take in their musical catalog.
Jason Isbell opened R.E.M.’s segment by playing “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine).” Stipe then delivered a heartfelt speech, thanking the band’s manager, Bertis Downs, and expressing gratitude for the honor.
