Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Set to Return in “Practical Magic 2” Sequel
After 26 years, the Owens women are returning. Warner Bros. announced a sequel to the 1998 classic “Practical Magic,” with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in talks to reprise their roles.
The original film starred Bullock and Kidman as the witchy Owens sisters, who cover up the supernatural aftermath of Bullock accidentally killing Kidman’s abusive ex-boyfriend. Directed by Griffin Dunne and based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, it became a beloved film for fans of the spooky season.
Akiva Goldsman will write the screenplay for the new movie, with Bullock and Kidman expected to produce alongside Denise Di Novi. The announcement was teased on TikTok and officially revealed on Monday, creating buzz among fans.

In 2019, HBO Max considered a spinoff series, “Rules of Magic,” based on Hoffman’s prequel novel, but it never materialized. However, the fandom remains strong.
The Owens family is known for their magical abilities and a curse placed by their ancestor Maria Owens, which brings tragedy to any man who loves an Owens woman. Bullock and Kidman’s characters strive to break this curse and escape malicious gossip.
